Tempest is our flagship annual event, attracting players from all over the world to compete for top place. We have previously hosted both DipCon and World DipCon at our Tempest in a Teapot competition. This year's event will take place at the Westin Tysons Corner in Silver Spring, MD. The hotel is offering an event rate of $99 a night - just specify PTKS Tempest event when booking your room. The scoring system for Tempest rewards relative board position. At the conclusion of the game (victory or unanimous draw vote), a victory will score 28,034 pts. In the event of a draw, these points will be divided amongst the players as follows: the largest power on the board will score 7000 pts plus 1 pt for each owned supply center, the second largest power will score 6000 pts plus 1 pt for each owned supply center, ..., the smallest power will score 1000 pts plus 1 pt for each owned supply center. Any powers which have the same size will split the points for the two relevant positions - ie, two 10-center powers tied for second-largest power will score [(6000 + 5000)/2 + 10] 5510 pts each.

Our goal is to have a scheduled tournament each season attracting strong play and encouraging tournament play.
